Old Loughtonians Talent Academy

Old Loughtonians HC are delighted to have been appointed as EH Talent Academy (TA) for the Essex/Herts/East London region and are now looking to recruit Lead and Assistant Coaches for the boys and girls squads. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with and develop elite junior players along with expanding your own coaching experience within a new dedicated performance environment.

Talent Academies are are the new pathway for the most talented 15-18 year olds. TAs will provide, on a weekly basis, high-quality coaching and training through a combination of dedicated sessions and integrated with other activities delivered by the host. Every Talent Academy will have a squad of players selected through a robust process based on the England Hockey Player Profile.

Lead Coach (x2)

Lead Coach Responsibilities
• To work with the Head Coach to deliver the TA programme in a supportive club
environment
• Lead and plan weekly sessions (including classroom content) to be delivered with the
GB Talent System Framework
• Available to attend all sessions, approx 136 hours from September to mid July. A mixture
of evenings, training and competition days.
• To motivate and develop players individually and as a group

Your Experience
• A proven track record of developing Junior players in a performance environment.
• Use of Video Analysis to improve individual player and team feedback.
• Hold the England Hockey ‘Hockey Coach’ (level 2) qualification.
• Conversant and able to deliver within the GB Talent system Framework and
Hockey Intelligence.
• Hold a current Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop and First Aid (within last
3 years). Undergo an enhanced DBS Check.

Your Skills and Qualities
• Can work as lead coach and as part of a team, to deliver the development programme.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Enthusiastic , inspirational and motivational.
• Team player.
• Reliable and punctual.

Other roles (youth and adult) within the club coaching team available to the right candidates.

Assistant Coach (x2)

Assistant Coach Responsibilities
• To work with the senior coaches to deliver sessions.
• To deliver specific SUPs and small sided games as advised by head/lead coach.
• Available to attend bi weekly evening sessions, from September to April and all training
and competition days. Approx 110 hours

Your Experience
• Experience working with and developing youth players.
• Hold an England Hockey “Sessional Coach” ‘(level 2 ) qualification.
• Conversant and able to deliver within the GB Talent system Framework and
Hockey Intelligence.
• Hold a current Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop and First Aid (within last
3 years). Undergo an enhanced DBS Check
