
Congratulations to all the teams today who each played four matches in very hot conditions.
Matches started at 11.00 with Yorkshire & NE winning 1-0 on pitch 1 against South East with Claire Turner the scorer in open play. On pitch 2 South Central beat London 1-0 with a goal from Philippa Joseph from a corner.
East then opened their account with a 1-0 win against Midlands with Jane Peggs the scorer. On pitch 2 West won 2-0 against North West with 2 goals in open play from Deb Chalcraft.
East and London then played out a 0-0 draw. East thought they had scored with seconds to go but the goal was disallowed. On pitch 2 South Central squeezed past a resilient Midlands 1-0 with an early goal from Amanda Lee.
In the 1.50 fixtures Yorkshire & NE beat North West 1-0 with a goal from Jo De-Vries and West had a resounding 5-1 win against South East with 2 goals from Sarah Butt and 1 a piece from Jackie Daw, Deb Chalcraft and Tracy Fieldsend. Teresa Band scored for South East.
Yorkshire & NE picked up their third 1-0 win next against South Central with another goal from Jo De-Vries and South East won 2-1 against London with Katie Cowlard and Kathy Carrick scoring for South East and Sarah Pusey for London.
Next up East won 1-0 against a tiring West who only had 13 players available. Maria Whelan scored the winning goal. North West won 1-0 against Midlands with Sarah Impey scoring.
London and West then played out a 1-1 draw with goals from Mandy Hoad and Jackie Daw whilst South East and South Central shared the points in a 0-0 draw.
As thoughts turned to the hog roast and the Champions league final Yorkshire & NE claimed maximum points with a 4-0 win against Midlands with 2 Lorraine Dickson and 1 from Jo De-Vries and Pip Glassford. Some very tired East and North West players finished the day with a 0-0 draw.
