Haven't posted a match report for a while but I felt our second half performance and a few 7's debuts deserved a mention.

With our position in the league (3rd) pretty much confirmed, the Men's 7's headed over to a sunny Redbridge for a lunch time push back. Due to a few regular players having COVID plus rugby / football arrangements (how dare they!) the team was pleased to welcome some younger faces (and legs) into the squad with Max Harrison, Douglas Chan, Milan Myers and Dexter Jermyn all making their 7's debut .

I felt we started the better of the two teams with greater possession for most of the half but we failed to get wide and behind their experienced defence and kept running into that "one" player who stood out for the oppo. After a few failed shorts of our own, Redbridge converted their only short of the first half and went into half time 1-0 up.

As the players took on water, "the talk" centred on two things; 1) Let's man mark that "one" player and 2) Let's get the ball wider.

Well, the team not only listened but also executed. 1) Ari marked their "one" player out of the game and Rob floored him with two strong but legal tackles 2) Dexter moved to play in the centre of midfield at 13 and smashed it 3) the rest of us put in a real team performance with plenty of selfless running which created the right space and made it easy to get the ball wide. We reduced Redbridge to long hits from the back and after drawing level early in the second half, Harjinder Singh then nicked a ball in the oppo's D and scored our winner with a cracking finish. After that, the result was never in doubt for me.

Ari would have ordinarily claimed MoM had it not been for two youngsters who were both - simply excellent - so well done to Milan and Dexter for sharing that award for the day.

Our huge congratulations also go to the Men's 2's and 6's who both won their respective leagues yesterday. Nice one chaps.
