A pretty short report this week. Basically, we had at least, if not more, than 50% possession and plenty of attacks on the Chelmsford D but just couldn't get the ball in the net. Sometimes it goes like that.
Chelmsford were a decent team and we were quite well matched but the goal gods just weren't with us. We were a little slow to get going during the first five minutes, but after that we played reasonably well, though not on quite as strong form as last week (apart from Mel).
Mel was on super-ninja form. I'm not really sure what ninjas are but they sound as if they'd be extremely fast and devilishly effective - which pretty much describes Mel's performance and earned her our Man of the Match. Isla (runner up MoM) was also on sparkling form in her final appearance for us before disappearing off to the ivory towers of Durham University, where I'm sure she will have an amazing time.
A couple of the goals we conceded were probably down to a lack of concentration in defence but one of them was definitely a touch 'shoey' - unseen by the umpire.
The elders of the tribe stayed on for a consolatory gossip, sausage in a bun and iced doughnuts. Susy contributed a bag of rocket so we could pretend we were being healthy - we won't mention her secret cheese and bacon pastry stop on the way back from Maldon last week ;)
Roll on next week.
