We did well to win this game as we had no goalie, so were trying a new formation: three across the back and two screens in front.

On the whole it worked well, though we had a few hairy moments when BS sent some long balls through the middle to a high hanging forward. With no goalie we needed to make sure any forwards were marked tightly and were prevented from getting goal-side of our last defender but we didn't always quite manage it. On one occasion we were saved by Ayesha sprinting back - Usain Bolt watch out - to pick up the breakaway player. It was a close run thing but Ayesha managed to get there just in time to put the player off.

It was a good battle, but I'd say we had the edge. We certainly had plenty of possession and attacks on their D. Fiona managed to convert one of these attacks - a shot by Helena - into a goal within one minute of the game starting, which must be a record for us. About twenty five minutes later, Sienna scored our second and we felt on a roll. However, the BS goalie was good and managed to save any other of our efforts.

About half way through the second half, rather against the run of play, we managed to concede a goal. There then followed a few more skirmishes along our goal line, with our defenders scrabbling to keep the ball out - nail biting moments for those of us watching from the dugout. This week, luck was with us though, and we ended the game 2-1 up.

Our runner up MoM, with a strong performance generally (as well as the mercy dash), was Ayesha, but out in front was Helena, for her excellent, dynamic and thoughtful play at right mid.

Well done everyone. Good to get a second win under our belts.
