The 10 o'clock away was a bit of an early start for some of us, so I was pleasantly surprised that nearly everyone managed to make the meet time this week. Big tick in the box :)

Great to have Priya back in goal for us after a few weeks without a goalie. Havering, despite having no goalie of their own, were a surprisingly well organised team who positioned intelligently, especially in the first half. This made for a good, competitive match, albeit we had the edge speed and skill-wise.

I think we generally played well and had a few near misses on goal through the first half. Occasionally we lacked accuracy in our onward passes and perhaps didn't exploit the full length of the pitch as much as we could have done but on the whole we did a reasonable job. I would say our edge increased as the game went on and delivered a short corner goal for us just before half time.

Phoebe scored our first, and indeed our second and third goals, which followed in the second half from open play. No prizes for guessing who was voted our MoM, for the second week running and in only her second game for us!

All the goals were scored from the "scramble zone", as mids Phoebe, Scarlet, Maria and Alisha, plus Rach, Susy, Evelyn and Sienna, our marauding forward line, worked tenaciously to get the ball across the line.

Our defensive line of Nicky, Suzie, Cynthia, Katie and myself, also had a solid game - increasingly so as the game went on, leaving Priya with only the occasional touch of the ball.

When we did manage to get our "W" presses into shape at their free hits, the pressure these caused worked really well in forcing their big hitter defenders to "panic-smash" the ball at no-one in particular, and in fact straight off the pitch. Let's keep working at setting the presses up quickly going forwards.

So, well played everyone. We definitely deserved this win.

So far this season we have had: a win, a loss, a win, a loss, a win, a loss, a win. I'm hoping we can break the pattern next week against Brentwood :)
