Umpiring

Umpiring

The Club recognises the vital role Umpires play in enabling the game to be played and enjoyed. We are fortunate to have a pool of qualified umpires at the club. However we also recognise the need to encourage the recruitment of new umpires and the support and development of existing umpires.

With this in mind, the club has introduced an Umpire Mentoring programme.
All new umpire candidates will be offered a free one-to-one mentor to guide and assist them along their pathway towards becoming a fully qualified umpire.
Our mentors are highly experienced experts, many of whom are national-level umpires, pool umpires, and/or qualified umpire developers/coaches.

Contact our Umpire Development Officer, Jane Blake, to find out more.

This mentoring support is also available free of charge to existing OLHC umpires who would like to improve their standard. All of us can benefit from a few expert tips now and again.

Advice to Umpires - PDF series

Two of our expert mentors, Paul Warwick-Munday and Teresa Jolly, are currently collaborating on the production of an ongoing series of helpful Advice to Umpires guides - see attachments below.
