On Saturday 13th December we will be commemorating Tom. For those of you who never had the honour to know him, he was not only a fabulously talented hockey player but also one of the nicest and most intelligent people you could expect to meet. He joined the Club from his boyhood club Havering (a club for whom he continued to have a great affection) and was a key player in the Loughts u18 team which won 6-1 against Beeston in the inaugural National Clubs Indoor Hockey Championships in 2010 and a member of the u18 teams which were finalists in the England Hockey Cup finals in both 2009 and 2010 but just missed out on the top spot.
Tom went on to represent Nottingham at university before returning to the Club as one of a close group of friends and former Colts aiming to get the M1s promoted back into the National League.
His death ten years ago in a training accident for which nobody could be blamed affected not only his family but the hockey community as a whole.
Tom is commemorated by our “Willows” team name and his number 10 shirt number has been withdrawn permanently.
There will be speeches at 13.00 commemorating Tom followed by a match between the Club and Havering and then a Hog Roast.
Please do come down to support the day. Forever 10.
A group of students from Sweyne Park School where Mitch Jones (who captained the winning indoor team in 2010) teaches, will be raising funds for CPR training.
