It was inspiring to see so many current and former Loughts and Havering players and their families who came back to the club on Saturday in memory of Tom and in order to support his legacy. What a fabulous and fitting turn out.
Having so many friends and supporters come together made the day extra special for everyone who attended to hear first from Lisa and Pippa, and then to watch the match played on pitch 1 between Tom’s first club Havering and an Old Loughts team consisting mainly of Tom’s old teammates.
Loughts and Havering also joined forces on pitch 2 for a mixed social hockey match.
Home made sloe gin and damson cordial courtesy of Jack and a hog roast (thank you to Shaw’s butchers) completed a poignant but uplifting day.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to make this such a memorable occasion.
Photographs thanks to Jon can be seen here.
Always 10.
