Old Loughtonians were a founder member of the National League and have been National League and Cup champions. Many of the members of the current M1s squad either play or played youth hockey at the club or are university friends of those youth members. The club has a strong tradition in promoting and supporting home grown talent.

The team won the East Conference of predominantly London clubs in 2021/22 and immediately following promotion was runner up in England Hockey Division 1 South in 2022/23. The club had another strong season in the division in 2024/25 finishing 3rd and only dropping 2 points against the two teams above them. It is aiming for promotion again this season.
