Today was the day we faced our old rivals, Chelmsford, who were promoted with us last year. The anticipation was clear with Ozzie making sure our warm up was on point.

Chelmsford started off quickly with the defenders in Laura, Alisha, Dottie and Cressida needing to step in front and make their tackles, and Phoebe stepping out to keep the score 0-0. As we got into the game, we started having opportunities on goal with our first short corner being won by an aerial into the D from Kim and Georgie outmaneuvering the opposition with her one on one skills to get the penalty corner. We had several opportunities, with Rachel and Kayuki attacking down the left and Kaz making her fast runs down the right. Mazza then received the ball from the right, square pass to Rachel, who slipped it forward to Cressida waiting on the left in the D after a superb run forward and scored our first goal. Lovely short, sharp passes creating a great goal.

We received an inspirational half time talk from Ozzie such that we started the second half eager to win. Chelmsford were unrelenting however and Phoebe was required to make several fantastic saves to keep us in the game. Heather and Kaz worked well down the right, stringing several passes down towards the D onto Cerys and Georgia who made the Chelmsford defence work hard. The constant pressure payed off with Mazza running into the D and scoring our second goal of the game from a straight strike.

Overall a hard fought game to come away with another win and a big thank you to Mazza and Phoebe!
