First 5 minutes? Awful.
Second 5 minutes? Signs of life.
From there onwards? Just got better and better.

Admittedly, Brentwood are the weakest team we have played in the division so far, but I don't want to take away from the wonderful teamwork we displayed once we had settled down. We could blame the slow start on the fact that with a somewhat changed team composition (Jess, Karen and Avril joining us) we were getting used to playing together, but I think it was more that we didn't warm up with enough intensity and depth.

Anyway, concentrating on the excellent aspects of our performance, we passed intelligently and accurately, we backed each other up and trusted each other, we worked hard and we showed flair. Brentwood did rather pack their central defensive area, sometimes making it difficult to get the ball through to our forwards, but with our strength in depth, we managed to find space to push through to goal on a goodly number of occasions.

By half time we were 5-0 up and then slotted in another 3 for good measure in the second half. Karen bagged a handy hattrick, Elis scored 2, Jess scored 2 and Ellie scored 1. Although our remaining forward Kim did not have the reward of a goal herself, she selflessly worked hard to set a number of them up - clearly refreshed by the Dubai holiday.

In our MoM voting there were mentions for Karen, Jess, Kim, Clem and Aurora, but the award went this week to Elis, for her cracking work as centre forward. I have to say that everyone, though, played a solid part in securing the win.

I believe I scraped the DoD vote (despite not being on the pitch) for despairing at the carelessness of someone leaving all their damp belongings on the bench after the game. Unfortunately, they were all mine! Duuh! Runner up must have been Jen, who was so super-keen to get to the match that she turned up 1 hour before the actual meet time. Still clearly living in Bitish Summer Time Jen.
