The Men’s 2s resumed their season in the East Premier League with a composed win against Cambridge University Men’s 1s.

Despite having had their match called off last weekend, Jamie Askam’s team picked up quickly from their good form in December and played the ball around neatly finding space for each other and playing some incisive balls both along the lines and through the middle.

In a first half with few chances for either side, Loughts eventually took the lead they deserved from a ball played to Matt Lewis who moved it on to Richard Hartley-Shah for a clean tap in.

The second half saw Loughts continue to have the majority of the possession and chances but, despite the pressure a second goal would not come.

Loughts had a let off with ten minutes to go when Cambridge missed a good chance at the far post but rallied strongly and Mark Antrobus finished a good move to score with five minutes remaining on the clock.

Next week Loughts play Cambridge City Men’s 1s away, the second of three Cambridge teams in the league.
