MEN'S 4S DELIVER A HAMMERING TO HAVERING TO BOUNCE BACK

This week’s action for the Loughts Men’s 4s took us down the road to Chigwell School for a top of
the table clash against Havering 2s. With an unbeaten start unfortunately ended last time out, the
team were keen to get back to winning ways, and let’s just say normal service would be emphatically
resumed come the end of the match today.

In somewhat familiar surroundings, Captain Rob reflected on last week and challenged us all to start
this match on the right foot, starting with our warm up.

Such a stirring team talk definitely had an impact today, as we started very much on the front foot
and applied pressure on the Havering defence high up the field.

Such was our intensity I would hazard a guess to suggest that the away side probably ventured
forward to cause us significant threat only a handful of times all half. However, despite gong close on
many occasions, we could not find that all-important breakthrough before halftime.

The team continued to work hard after the interval, with our forwards Jordan, Leo, Tom, Thomas,
Sam and Zak setting the team’s press so well. Finally, as the hour neared, we got our just desserts for
our efforts today with 4 quickfire goals to blow away any hope of a Havering share of the spoils. First
up was a very neat finish off the half volley by Sam (helping us out from the 3s today). Second came
a nice deflection from Jordan following a slap towards heading in by myself (all the way to the line,
with no keeper in sight, I might add!). Next was an example of chasing every ball down, and never
giving up as Leo managed to squeeze the ball in at the near post after stopping the ball rolling off the
back line. And finally, Sam got his second of the afternoon with another supremely confident finish.
So, 4-0 against the early pace setters. Not a bad way to bounce back from last week’s
disappointment.

MoM this week found its way to keeper Harrison for an extremely solid display in goal, which
included some cracking saves and a general dominance over and clearing up of anything that came
his way. Top stuff Harrison! DoD this week, unsurprisingly, went to Captain Rob. Whilst a special
mention must be given for his most perfectly-executed aerial for some time today, he also nearly
took off the head of some new blood in the adult game, perhaps questioning his choice to play in
such a dangerous match!

Matchweek 7 of the season sees the Loughts Men’s 4s rebound with an immense 4-0 battering of
Havering 2s. As you will see in the next report out now, we would now turn our attention to face
another early pace setter in Waltham Forest 2s. Extremely well done all.

Signing off,
Ryan
