Very much a game of two halves today.

In the first half we were "uphill" and into the sun - more a game of football than hockey. Upminster seemed to give us little time on the ball and to have endless energy. Abi was called on to make some excellent saves. At the half time break we were 0-1 down - a fairly close fought game with Upminster having the edge.

During the second half, with a slight adjustment in positions, we started to turn the game around, growing more confident and attacking as time went on. Obviously Upminster had to contend with the sinking sun, but they also seemed to tire a little, whereas we went from strength to strength.

Our linking and passing was especially good, all our goals coming from some great teamwork. Ayesha and Emily made a winning combination around goal but everyone played an important part in the build up to the goals. Our defence was also more solid in the second half. In the last quarter, Upminster struggled to string many passes together as we worked so hard in the centre ground to pressure and block their moves.

Emily was a clear winner of our MoM this week, not only for her two goals, but also for her intelligent movement and linking. Korobi won the DoD for the "double stick tackle green card", which she admitted was well deserved. A special mention for Liv, who gallantly played with a very painful ankle. At least no extra injuries this week Liv.
