Another convincing win for us on Saturday, though the score was a modest 2-0. It could easily have been more, had it not been for Upminster's excellent goal-keeper (and Susy's artistic impression of the width of the goal mouth ;)
Upminster were quite a young team and had lots of enthusiasm and energy, but they couldn't quite match our general strength and experience.
We displayed some impressive play again during the first half, but the lack of any goals materialising did push us into trying to 'force' the ball forwards too much, when the time wasn't right.
We reassessed at half time and resolved to show a little more patience in moving the ball around and keeping possession during the second half. We also stopped hammering the ball along the baseline straight into the goalie, and worked the angles better, resulting in two lovely goals from Lara (who is now challenging for the club golden stick award in the goal department :)
Some lovely speedy sprints down the wing and strong crosses into the D from Holly earned her this week's MoM. Susy was the self-declared DoD, both for "highest number of shots so nearly on target" and for being the mysterious 12th man on pitch at the start of the second half, giving Lula, the "other" left mid, delusions of madness.
Thanks to Susy for organising the Christmas/silly hats photos and for bringing post-match snacks. What would we do without you? :)
