Another game we probably should have won but only managed to draw, although Upminster were stronger than expected.
It was not our finest game ever, and wasn't helped by the many stick clatters and obstructions on both sides. Again, we probably had more possession but we didn't always make accurate passes, giving the ball away cheaply, especially in the first half. I managed to tweak my back part way through the first half but struggled on with reduced effectiveness as we only had 11 players.
Young Priya had a splendid game in goal for us. She even saved a flick, scaring the Upminster player into making a mess of it. She was narrowly pipped to the post as MoM by Nicky, who was a monster (in a good way) of a defender, pouncing on everything that came her way - including an Upminster youngster. No votes for DoD this week, but if we are following last week's example then it should be shared between Nicky and Isla for their "green surprises".
A mention for Scarlet for stopping a goal on the line, meaning the score stayed at 0-0.
We tried hard but were frustrated in a lot of our attacks by the stick tackles and obstructions, especially on Lara, as they struggled to keep up with her speed. During the last 10 minutes or so we lost our shape in defence, but I think people were tired from having no subs.
Unlucky guys but well fought.
