Although we lost 0-3, I was very pleased with the way everyone played, especially as it was our first league game and we had an almost completely new team line-up.

We probably had about 75% of the possession and a lot more attacking chances and short corners than they did. We just couldn't quite get the finishing touch around their keeper.

To say many of us hadn't played much together before, we actually put together some lovely team play and backed each other up well.

Basildon are pretty canny at goal scoring when in the attacking D. Nell made some amazing saves when they did get their shots away .

For the ones that "got away", one goal came from a short corner and the other two from free play. One of the latter was the result of an unlucky bounce and the other was probably due to a slight confusion in defence.

Everyone earned at least one vote for Man Of the Match, but just out in front was Jemimah for her very diligent and creative performance up front. She also went on to prove her strawberry eating prowess at the post-match teas. Very impressive :)

So, a loss, but really a good start play-wise. Well done all.
