Another solid performance this week and a convincing 4-0 win away at campion School against a very nice Havering team.
Although we played well in the first half, I think we could have done even better. There were a few too many unnecessary stick tackles and we needed to be a little more patient in our attacks. Nevertheless our determination and work rate was good throughout, despite the fact that some of our younger players seemed to have been on a non-stop hockey-a-thon since Friday morning.
In the second half we upped the standard further - just as well as Havering also played better in that half.
Nell, in goal, hadn't touched the ball in the first half (she said she didn't mind at all as it helped with her "clean sheet" stats ) but was called into action a couple of times in the second.
Our goals were from Jemimah x 2, Susy and Izzy M - two in the first half and two in the second. Izzy's goal was pronounced the most elegant goal of the season so far - a delicate but well-aimed tap which floated serenely across the line.
Tied in second place for our MoM were Scarlet (fearsome charges down the pitch) and Jemimah (great positioning and goal-scoring) but topping the votes was Ayesha for her outstanding work in both defence and attack. Very well deserved.
A special mention also for Jen in her first game back after baby number 2, which didn't stop her from throwing herself about the pitch in dramatic fashion. Great team commitment Jen!
Well played everyone. Onwards and upwards!
