Our winning streak continued on Saturday with a 4-1 victory, despite the fact that Havering scored first, in the opening minutes.
Our oppo had obviously improved their game since out first meeting, so a win was not a done deal. However, the confidence in ourselves was clear, resulting in a fine performance, (like last week) especially in the second half.
Our only minor "weaknesses" in the first half were our lack of patience, slightly loose passes and abundance of stick tackles, which the umpires rightly raised with both teams at half time. (Strangely, these were all the same first half issues we had in our first encounter.)
We managed to equalise well into the first half: a nice finish from Jen, on the left, from a useful little pass back from right baseline - possibly Sienna? (I didn't even need to shout "get the angle" ;)
In the second half, Sienna put us in the lead with our second goal. Not long after, however, a foot in front of our goal resulted in a penalty flick for Havering. Some "hid behind the sofa", not bearing to watch, but those of us who did were rewarded with a brilliant save from our MoM of the day, Emily, in goal. The flick went to the left - quite a decent one - but Emily exhibited lightening reactions as her right foot shot out, and up, to meet it. The crowd (well mainly Maxi) went wild.
Sienna also scored our third goal. Unfortunately I didn't get a clear view of either of her goals, but Phil tells me at least one of them was "brilliant". By this time we were well into our stride pushing forwards. Havering had a few forays towards our D but our defence remained tight, rebuffing anything that came our way. Our final goal was from Isabelle, who I thought was on fine form on Saturday, demonstrating speed, concentration and intelligent passing.
Our runners up for MoM this week were Isla and Mel, whose strength and dynamism were incredible, but this week, no-one could deny Emily the top slot.
Another great performance team. Well done!
