W4 v Chelmsford 5s Away 31st Jan 2026

Oh dear - the fatal mistake of not writing up the match report before the experience fades from the grey matter, so apologies for even less detail than usual.

Quite how Chelmsford 5s are sitting bottom of the table I don't know. They were certainly a lot stronger than the first time we met, giving us quite a battle. (Probably goes to show that there are no particularly weak teams in this div.)

Continuing our current pattern, we played well in the first half, but stepped up a level in the second - maybe the half time sweeties are the key - I can promise no scary threats are involved ;) Once again, we managed the 16 man rotations smoothly, with help from Gary on the stop-watch.

Our four guest (from the 5s) youngsters put in really good shifts, with a special mention forCynthia, who was splendid - dare I say even menacing - at both right and left defender (though not at the same time).

Madiha, also in defence, otherwise excellent, gave us a scare, and later a laugh, with her 'interesting' transfer across our defensive D :)

Sienna scored both of our goals and is starting to creep up the golden stick table. She and Isabelle, who I have to say was on very strong form today, came runners up in our MoM competition, but out in front, with 7 very well deserved votes was young Priya, in goal. There was plenty of action in both circles in this match, but she managed to keep out all bar one attempts on our goal with incredible agility.

Another wonderful team performance against a decent team. Well done everyone!

Jane
