What a game our W5s had at Waltham Forest!
We started off slow, quickly going behind 0-1.
This was due partly to a breakaway chance and the “interesting “ Umpiring decisions.
Waltham Forest got another chance before half time to sneak in behind us from a penalty corner awarded to us at the other end.
0-2.
Nell was on fire in goal where she made a spectacular save with her right hand/stick. It was a sure goal except for Nell!
Old Loughts got another corner, only to find themselves running back to defend as Waltham Forest broke away again. 0-3, with the help of a foot!
2nd half showed a much improved and more cohesive game from the Old Loughts girls, with at least 3-4 chances missing by a whisker, and a special save from the young Waltham Forest keeper.
The WF umpires were playing their part!
Let it be known, we don’t like Umpires acting in this way! So what did Rachel do? Only went and scored! Yay! We got one back! 1-3.
We followed this up with a goal from Ollie. We were on fire! Waltham Forest couldn’t contain us!
We had 3-4 short corners in a row but could not capitalise!
Umpire told me we had 50 seconds left on the clock! , and we got a short corner!
Everybody up! The ball was injected, Rachel got on the end of it to the right of the D and let rip!
The ball ended up in the back of the net! 3-3.
It was an amazing game to watch.
The girls never gave up!
Lucy and Jill had a great game in midfield, while Chris worked well with Suzie in defence who was a great number 2 runner. She made up an amazing amount of ground to step in and take the ball off of a WF striker in the D. They didn’t see her coming!!

I have to mention everyone as all had a great game and should be very proud or themselves! Well done Izzy, Amber, Claire, and Katie P, all working as a team.
Great result considering the score should have been 4-3 as the ball went over the goal line but for some unknown reason the umpire gave a 16....
