Despite being in a difficult group, with 3 respective county champions, the boys acquitted themselves admirably and showed total commitment to the cause, playing with a team spirit and organisation that kept their opponents on guard throughout.
A slightly unfortunate defeat in the first game against hosts Harleston Magpies wasn’t the start the team wanted but there were some great passages of play to give the players confidence.
They were only outclassed by eventual champions Cambridge City, but they did manage to create some uncertainty in that game as they did against Hertford who also managed to make the final.
Endeavour and commitment never dropped and the boys had the better of the remaining games against Bury St Edmunds and Bedford, drawing both and conceding with less than 60 seconds left on the clock!
Old Loughts eventually finished 9th in the East region.
