Old Loughtonians Ladies 1s were in goal scoring form as they completed a 4-0 win away at Ipswich-East Suffolk in the East Premier league. It took Loughts only 2 minutes to open their account with Natasha Patient sending Lucy Price clear who duly rounded the keeper before slotting home on the reverse.

Katie Gleeson made it 2-0 on 24 minutes and Chloe Menear gave Loughts a 3 goal lead when she smashed home a penalty corner as half time approached. The best goal of the game came halfway through the second half following a fantastic flowing team move. Laura Oglesby’s lifted pass found Faye Holmes just outside the circle who then linked brilliantly with a marauding Venetia Bailey whose cross was expertly converted by Katie Gleeson for her second of the game.

Old Loughts L2 continued their fine start to the season with a 2-0 home win against Upminster 3’s. Georgia Dawes opened the scoring after 2 minutes. Loughts continued to press and were rewarded with a fine strike by Karen Leach putting the home team 2-0 up at half time. Loughts continued to pile on the pressure in the second half but were unable to increase their lead due to some resilient defending by Upminster. A great debut in goal by Abigail Smith, a commanding performance by Cressida Jamieson in midfield and a special mention to a well deserved player of the match, Georgia Dawes, who led the line well with a tenacious attitude.
The L4s won 1-0 away at Southend & Benfleet with Rachel Paddon scoring the decisive goal and the L5s drew 0-0 away at Havering to complete the clean sheets for the ladies.
The M1s took on a revitalised Spencer in the East Conference on Saturday. This match was akin to a boxing match with each side swapping blows. In the first quarter it was end to end hockey and saw both teams going close. There was no shortage of skill and determination from both teams.

Spencer scored from their first short corner in the second quarter. Loughts were behind for only the second time this season and they responded with waves of fine counter attacks.
At half time coach Lee Ible urged the team to keep their disciplined approach and continue playing their high speed passing game. This finally paid off in the last quarter when the Marksman, Tom Watson, converted after a Mitch Jones short corner effort. The team finished strongly and might have taken home all three points in the final minutes. There was great determination and application from the whole team who were playing against a Spencer team apparently including six current or former recently signed Irish and GB internationals. With second placed Richmond drawing 2-2 at Indian Gym, Loughts remain five points clear as league leaders and deservedly so.

Stand-in captain Mark Loughrey was heard to say in the shower afterwards "I gave the lads a few special words of Irish wisdom at half time that saw us through".

The M2s remain second in the East Premier league 2 points behind Bishop’s Stortford after a 4-0 win against Blueharts 2s. The M3s suffered the worst possible pre match preparation with a 2 hour plus journey to play Old Southendians 2s, did not get going until the last ten minutes and were bundled over 8-2. The M5s Loppers drew 3-3 with Waltham Forest 3s, in the top of the table clash in divison 6SE the M6s Willows retained their 100% record beating the Brentwood Academy side 3-0, M7s Willows Woodsmen away at Saffron Walden 6s won 8-0 and the M8s Willows Ramblers won 1-0 at home to Braintree 5.s The Loughts Supervets won 4-3 against Reading Redsox in the London Area 0ver 50s premier league to complete the Saturday results.
