42. 14 Feb 2022 - Defences on top in goalless encounter

Old Loughtonians Ladies 1s played out an entertaining but ultimately scoreless draw after the long trip up the A1 to Peterborough. Both teams were hard to breakdown on the slow, sandy Peterborough pitch and when chances did fall to the forwards both keepers were in fine form. Loughts won a number of penalty corners and although most resulted in shots on target the City of Peterborough keeper was equal to everything.

At the other end the Loughts defence of Zara White, Chloe Menear and Chloe Joarder limited Peterborough to a handful of attempts.
Annie Wade-Jones in the Loughts goal was on top form and deserving of her Player of the Match award with a number of excellent saves. Loughts Ladies stay in 4th place as the season enters the final quarter.

The Ladies 2s won 6-1 against Redbridge & Ilford 1s to stay second. The Ladies 3s played very well to win 4-1 against Braintree 1s and move into 3rd with a hattrick from Kayuki Sen rounded off with a goal from Susi Harrison. The Ladies 4s stay 2nd after a comfortable 5-1 win against Maldon Academy 3s and the Ladies 5s remain 3rd after drawing 1-1-with Witham 3s.

Having drawn 3-3 last weekend with 2nd placed Richmond, Old Loughts M1s were faced with another difficult fixture away at 3rd placed London Wayfarers. Goals from captain Connor Caplan and Harvey Edwards should have sealed a win but London Wayfarers scored in the last minute to force a 2-2 draw. Despite the draw Old Loughts remain top of England Hockey Conference East after Richmond lost 2-5 to Spencer who move into second place 3 points behind Loughts.

The M2s continued their fine form winning 5-0 against their Bedford counterparts to remain league leaders with goals from Toby Gayler (2), Mitch Jones, Martyn Lear and Ali Crowley. The M3s Foresters also excelled despite only having 10 men to win 5-1 away against Brentwood 2s.

Both the M4s Academy and M5s Loppers were up against tough opposition and lost 1-3 and 1-4 against Witham 2s and Chelmsford 4s respectively. The M6s Willows beat Havering 4s 6-0 and continue their 100% record and in the same division the M7s Willows Woodsmen drew 2-2 with Upminster 5s to remain in 3rd. The M8s Willows Rangers succumbed 1-2 to Saffron Walden 7s but the M9s Willows Axemen had a good 2-0 win against Maldon Academy. The supervets also had a good day winning 2-1 at home against Hamstead and Westminster.
